Is it mattress testing time again? Come on; you know what this is. It’s basically when your mattress starts to give you trouble. Okay, I won’t sugar-coat it. It’s when you no longer sleep well, and your mattress is on its last leg. Suddenly coils are poking you in the back at night and the creaking sound has gotten on your last nerve. This means it’s time to start searching for a new and improved mattress. One thing you should ask yourself is; how much are you willing to spend? This is crucial. With a lot of the new-age mattresses, money is a concern. There are some whopping price tags out there. Ever checked out select comfort mattresses, or maybe some of the memory foam beds? Get your checkbook ready!

I was mattress shopping about last spring. My wife and I were flat-out sick and tired of getting a poor night’s rest. Something had to change. We had used the same mattress for the past eight years, and the thing still appeared new. However, it sure didn’t sleep well. We were done with coil spring beds. We were on a mission to check out memory foam and select comfort mattresses. These were apparently all the rage and we wanted to know why. First we hit up a general mattress store that carried some of the traditional memory foam beds. I liked them when I laid on them, but something was off. After a while, the bed seemed rather hot, and there was no edge support. Yikes, I can’t sleep like that. I would probably wake up sweaty or role off the bed. Then it was off to examine the select comfort mattresses. These seem so cool on the infomercials, but we weren’t impressed. They are air mattresses with fancy packaging. A couple can share a select comfort mattress and adjust their own side separately. This allows each to decide what feels best. However, I don’t want an air bed. And I’m definitely not forking out three grand for one. It was back to the drawing board. As we strolled around the mall, we spotted a Dormia store. They offered a new-age memory foam mattress. We decided to test the newest big thing. It was a huge step up from the original memory foam beds. Latex had been added to reduce the heat factor, and there was great edge support. This thing was ideal.

Whether or not you’ll prefer Dormia, coil spring, or select comfort mattresses really just depends on what you find comfortable. Obviously everyone is different and that’s why you have plenty to choose from. Just be sure you get your money’s worth.
